wee shu min

well as much as i didnt like her back in secondary school, but i think that this whole saga might have been blown out of proportion. what the discussion should be about should be the fact that her entry came across as elitist and not the fact that her -erhem- are huge and that you've got a problem with the mole on her face.

seriously people, i think that is secondary.

and what is it with people digging up her photos, scrutinising her friends and those around her, even to the extent of finding out which MP is her dad?!

what good is this to her, you and us?

are you going to pelt her with rotten eggs and rotten tomatoes just because you recognise her from the photos?

are you going to the Meet the People sessions to pelt her dad with rotten eggs and rotten tomatoes?

are you going to pelt her friends with rotten eggs and rotten tomatoes too?

if you do, i think you're the one who's going to be pelted by us.

we've seen our fair share of 'RJ limelight hoggers' but seriously, this is not going to do her any good right now.. especially since the forum threads have started throwing personal attacks at her.. its 2 weeks to the A levels and we all know how important that is to any student who's been through it.. the emotional strength needed to see everyone of us through the horrific 1 month is beyond anything we needed for the O levels..

besides the fact that A levels is coming, her blog probably wasnt meant for public viewing in the first place.. friends around her would have been able to take her views with a pinch of salt, knowing what kind of person she is like.. look beyond the harsh words and see her point.. the power of language is to get your point across to people and not for people to criticise your style.. perhaps style would be what puts people off most of the time when reading an article.. extremism is never favoured but somebody has to be the bad guy.. and shumin happened to be The One..

ok some would argue that cyberspace is meant for all to read and if she didnt want others to read she should have written it down instead of posting it on her blog.. haven we seen enough people being catapulted to fame through blogs? people like gayle who was from my primary school.. shumin from my secondary school.. hopefully none from my junior college.. still short of kindergarten i realised. hah!

i think its time this thing came to an end. Tammy was traumatised because of irresponsible remarks made by people. Gayle was lucky in the sense that people respected her views. Dawn Yeo came out unscathed, even becoming star blogger on STOMP. xiaxue has been criticised many a time as well. but not everyone is lucky. how would these people face the world in future?

imagine a job interview..

A: who's next?
B: wee shu min
A: the RJC one ar?
B: ya i think so.. says RJC on her resume..
[shumin enters]
A (whispers to B): OMG its her.. look at the MOLE!
B (starts to discredit her) : well looks like we've got wee shu min here today.............. *sniggers*

is this what you want her to face in future?

or perhaps people recognising her friends and throwing them together in the same league..

A (sees friend): do you happen to be wee shu min's friend?
*nods*
B (mutters to oneself) : aiyah then same kind la..

its just so unfair to judge someone just because of one incident. of cos im not saying that the above scenarios would really occur like that but it would remain in people's mind.. subconsciously people would discredit her words..

note: if you not happy with anything i've said, please dont flame me because im just trying to speak up for someone who has suffered her fair share of criticism and its time to stop it. she's only 18 and perhaps just didnt think before she typed and clicked "Publish Post".
