another insane week ahead!

the timetable reads 30h. madness. another week of many many lectures again. just because they cancelled before. oh well. guess its now or never. i'd rather be bombarded now than later on and realise i've not enough time to revise or something.

today was cricket/softball finals. girls lost against fisher but guys won. anw as usual, barbaric behaviour was witnessed during dinner. table banging (for the fun of it) and players running in in triumph (hopefully). but somehow this year seems more rowdy. it was quite funny cos we were seated next to this group of 5 girls and all of us looked at each other and we shared the same sentiment about their behaviour! its like b.i.m.b.o.! to the max.

oh well.

age gap age gap. HAHAHA.

okok back to pharm log book. tmr's the vivas! jiayou jiayou!!

  1. airway anat 1
  2. airway anat 2
  3. URTI
  4. Antiplatelet drugs
  5. Viral Respiratory Infections
  6. biochem markers in MI
  7. Pulmonary circulation
  8. anticoagulant
  9. food allergies
  10. asthma
boo. long week ahead..

this is my 500th post! i've come a long long long way i guess. =) chronicling my transient existence here. always thought it would be so awesome if one day, your decendants (be it children, grand*xchildren) can read about what their ancestors did once upon a time. when people still cooked using fires and drove cars running on petrol.

scary isnt it? it's like everyone can become an Anne Frank. a diary that one day can be read by thousand even after your time. pictures of your ancestors all over the web. pictures/videos of what life was now back then.

just realised that i'm probably going to chronicle my medical student life and beyond here. maybe when i reach the beyond stage, i might just stop blogging publicly. all the various rules governing patient anonymity etc. maybe if my life outside work isnt as boring as i think it might be, then there's a chance that i will still continue i guess.

kind of need something to remind me about my life. my memory's so bad. about my achievements, my victories, my sorrows.

its 11am on sat and i'm left with two lectures which are probably going to take up quite a lot of time. thorax anatomy and ischaemia/infarction. plus i've gotta do my pathology tut and revise for my pharmacology viva interview on monday too. busy busy!

but thankfully everything's working out just fine. i'm so happy. =)

ok so much for complaining that i don't have time.

here's all the samples i've gotten from all the various websites! =) yes, i'm been that bored. hahahaha!

from left (clockwise): vital gr3en (nutrient and enzyme rich superfood!), 1.5ml bvlgari omn1a green jade perfume, sachets of veg3sorb moisturiser, viva la juic7 perfume from juicy coutur3 and herbalife nutritional shak3 mix!

more's on the way.

hahaha what cheapskates. but i love it! muahahaha..

seriously i love getting mail.. especially mail with stuff in them! hehe!

i'm a happy little girl right now.

besides, i get to try all these wonderful products which i may recommend to my friends too!
i just realised how frivolous my posts are. but sometimes it's just that my life is so boring that there's nothing much to it except medicine. i wish this year was a little more interesting. unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

this post is going to be really random. you have been forewarned.

everyone's bogged down with work and sometimes it just gets to you. you become so sick and tired of it all, you just want to give up but you know that it's not possible because at the end of it, you're still going to have to complete it nonetheless.

i want to decorate my room more. i want to make it cosier. i want to change the look of it. somehow, it seems to lack something. something a little more personal. everywhere i turn, i see books. reminders of my student life. but nothing much that reminds me of who i am or the people around me. it's a stressful room to be in actually. you feel compelled to study all the time. being right in the corner also means that you dont get many visitors (which is good). unfortunately, some inconsiderate neighbour speaks with a loud squeaky voice and talks loudly at the weirdest hours of the night.

i need to pack my room too. maybe even rearrange it. i need change and i love change. change keeps things fresh and makes me feel like i need to adapt again. being too comfortable makes me complacent. maybe i'll consider moving my stuff around during easter. or maybe not. i'm too lazy.

i guess i've become a little more anti-social this year. simply because it isn't as fun anymore. meals aren't crazy, noisy and loud. people are a little more emotional this year. things have changed a lot. no wonder someone commented that despite all her years in college, you don't have a sense a belonging because people come and go. one day, you wouldn't even remember who they are.

i always wondered what it will be like to be friends with everyone in college. to be the one that gets invites to all the parties and actually attends them. would life be more interesting then? i guess it would but at the expense of?

i think i need to get a life. a life outside jane. a life outside med. thankfully, there's the soka group now so i don't have to hang out with the same people almost 24/7. not that i don't like them. it's good to have a separate group of friends to hang out with. =)

been more homesick this year than last year. maybe it's a good thing in a way. i just miss being around familiar friends. unpretentious friends whom i can be myself when i'm with them. i'm trying my best to be myself this time around. to be who i truly am. if i'm going to offend someone, so be it. i'm not going to bother being little miss nice anymore. besides, it probably says a lot about you if you can make me not like you in the first place.

i'm not saying that i'm perfect. i'm just saying that i've been much more tolerant than i have ever been. if i cannot stand you, i will stay far away from you till i have 'recovered' from my phase. and then it will be back to normal because by then, i would have accepted that that's just being you and all's fine by then.

i try not to hate the person but if i have something against, its against the action. inconsideration, arrogance, hypocrisy etc are some traits that i cannot stand.

having said that, i shall stop my rant now. no names are being mentioned here. although for those who know me, you probably know which part of the story you fit in. =)

or even better, those who have heard the rants in real life, probably can guess the other characters in here too!

omg im soo tired right now.

we just had this racial harmony day thing and as usual, SS5 was selling food to boost our pathetic coffers.

so this means that i've been up since 7am and went up to christ to cook once more, went for lessons, headed back to cook again and then finally had the food bazaar thing down at the ref steps.

i think at the end of this, i'm gonna sooo able to cook sia! hahaha!

it was fun yet frustrating at the same time because the stupid 'authentic' malay curry powder which we used at the end was crap. we ran out of the A1 curry paste so they went to woolies and instead got that. in the end we had to use jeremy7's personal stash of the A1 curry paste. plus salt. and chicken cubes. and onions. hahaha! it was quite nice at the end of it. =) phew. oh yes and i suddenly miss the coconut milk that we have back home cos the ones here are like 0.o

was kinda tempted to kope the KARA coconut cream they had at breakfast! (we're still wondering why it's there. to add to yoghurt?!)

our bandung ended up like strawberry milk simply because its STILL the wrong brand. yes its a glass bottle but it's not this one! whoops. probably should have given them a bit more information. like blue cap with some cheena pattern on the sticker.

nevertheless, we had a profit of ___ (shant disclose) but yes, thankfully there's profit! and the cheap source of chicken. i think the potatoes were almost the same price as the chicken! *gasps!* and the milk was the one that pushed our cost price up uP UP!

okok i'm gonna take a shower and have a short rest before studying. i STINK right now. curry, potato, milk etc. ewwwww...... not fun at all.

and we might be on TV! cos southern cross was covering the event (yes tasmania has THAT little news to cover) and the camera was right in front of me. not in front of my face but just across the table because he was shooting our food and our stall. erps.

Ah Beng was on a motorbike with Ah Lian after a durian shopping trip.

Ah Lian was holding on to 2 big bags of durians when they rode over
a hump, Ah Beng heard a loud bang.

He asked Ah Lian: 'Lewlian wu kalau boh'?(durians got dropped or not?).'

Ah Lian shouted: 'boh kalau lah!'

So Ah Beng continued with the journey. When they reached home, Ah Beng got down from his motobike and was shocked to see that Ah Lian was not wearing a helmet.

He asked Ah Lian: 'Where is your helmet?'

Ah Lian was very angry and replied: 'Just now I already told you'

'boh kalau' (helmet drop)!'

just put her together today and tried pumping it up! =) it works! (duh)

shared this with elvin3. each person $22.

besides, i think i might get to keep it since he probably doesnt need one at home! hahahaha..

why did we get it? cos we realised we need to practice taking blood pressures. we're so shit at it. so clumsy! whoops!

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

The Koala And The Lizard

A koala was sitting in a gum tree, smoking a joint.

A little lizard walked past, looked up and said,
'Hey Koala! What are you doing?'

The koala said, 'Smoking a joint, come up and have some.'

So the little lizard climbed up and sat next to the koala where they enjoyed a few joints.

After a while the little lizard said that his mouth was 'dry' and that he was going to get a drink from the river.

The little lizard was so stoned that he leaned over too far and fell into the river.

A crocodile saw this and swam over to the little lizard and helped him to the side. Then he asked the little lizard, 'What's the matter with you?'

The little lizard explained to the crocodile that he had been sitting with the koala in the tree, smoking a joint, but got too stoned and fell into the river while taking a drink.
The crocodile said that he had to check this out and walked into the rain forest, found the tree where the koala was sitting finishing a joint.

The crocodile looked up and said,'Hey you!'

So the koala looked down at him and said, 'Shiiiiiiiiiiit dude...How much water did you drink?'
"Nurses aren't supposed to laugh." Frank declared.

"Of course I won't laugh, I'm a professional
nurse. In over twenty years I've never laughed at a
patient."

"Okay then," Frank said and proceeded to drop his
trousers, revealing the tiniest man thingy the nurse had
ever seen. Length and width, it couldn't have been
bigger than a AAA battery.

Unable to control herself, the nurse started giggling then

almost fell to the floor laughing. A few minutes later
she was able to regain her composure.

"I'm so sorry," said the nurse. "I

don't know what came over me.

On my honor as a nurse and a lady, I promise it won't
happen again. Now tell me, what seems to be the
problem?"

"It's swollen," Frank replied.

Things went downhill from there.
wonderful. one of our tuts just got cancelled and the tut i just had lasted barely15min. today has been a waste of time so far. considering i spent almost half my afternoon doing that 15min tut. dang! oh well.. shall go read my coagulation now that i dont have to read septic shock. hopefully i will be prepared for it. there's so much to revise yet so little time. boo!

formal dinner again tonight with i think SS5 mtg after that. then i'll have to read my antidysrhythmia drug and thrombosis/embolism notes before tmr's lectures!

thankfully i've finished my pharmacology tut and i'm not presenting this yet. so that leaves me with more time to study. hopefully! hehe..

easter camps confirmed! we're heading down to wineglass bay! finally......
Monday again! time's just whizzing by without me knowing it. soon, it will be time to go home! hahaha but obviously before that, there would be exams (groans). haha!

the weeks seem to be getting less tiring and thats good. but we're having more and more t2-5 lectures which is bad. those are soooo boring. bleah.

  1. revise septic shock
  2. revise coagulation

  1. anti-arrhythmia drugs
  2. thrombosis/embolism
  3. pathophysiology of hypertension
  4. transfusion
yay cool shit. fewer lects = more time for revision!

ok i'm off to breakfast now! gonna come back and read my septic shock and coagulation. there're tut/pract later with no tuts uploaded. zzz. its happening again..

but before i go!

happy birthday ruth! <3>

Monday, March 09, 2009

i really really hate tuesday. they're the full on days with mornings packed with lectures while the afternoons are presentation/lectures/clinical skills depending on which half you're in. followed by case wrap up which is really a waste of time. by the time it ends, its already 6pm. boo. and what time did i start? 9am. with 1h lunch break. but that marks the end of the week's case. and wed brings with it a whole new case and onslaught of lectures.

i just love thurs. although this thurs my lovely thurs will be taken up by KFP. =( thursdays are my buffer days. they make me feel alive again. they make my week that much better. then its fridays and whee before you know it, its the weekend already!

here's my weekly to-do list. doesnt seem too bad now does it? =) unlike 1st week.

  1. drugs for heart failure
  2. physiological basis of heart failure
  3. atherosclerosis
  4. embryology of CVS
  5. advanced ECG
  6. CVS monitoring in ICU
plus integrated pract on thurs. gotta revise a little before that too because there're always formative quiz qns during practs which are soo good at making sure you're on the right track!

despite the heavy workload, i'm loving it all. like really really. i dunno what i will be doing if im not doing med. (ok i do. TCM.) but yeah studying is painful at times but i guess you'll get through it all at the end of the day and the satisfaction is sooo gratifying..

prob heading off to sleep soon. tireddd.. presentation tmr! wish me luck! =)

for once i think this is something really funny despite it being soo sarcastic. =)
i'm in the library now. was in the reading room studying so decided to take a break for a while and make use of the free internet. =)

ended up not going for laser tag cos there werent many people. maybe next time. besides, i think it was $15? rather save that money and use it on something more useful and tangible i guess. something that can be kept/put in my room or the likes.

just left with the lecture that we didnt have and i'm done with all the mindmaps so far! probably go through all of them again and read the next lecture notes on heart failure. so much physiology this time around! =( duh. its cvs and respi. what am i to expect.

somehow when im in the library i dont seem to surf that much but when im in my room, i'm clicking all the various links and exploring the virtual world like crazy. bahh. i should bring my notes out and do it here so that i can use the com too! hahahaha! yupyup! 45min to lunch! sunday lunches arent that bad so i guess i'm happy! hehe.

plus its a holiday tmr so i'm even happier! whee~! although this is probably the only long weekend i'll have this semester. took a look at the calender and wasnt really happy at what i found. dammit. plus i've got tests the day school reopens after easter break! so that means easter will be spent mugging my head off apart from the 2 days at easter camp. booo!

quite no life right? oh well. guess there isnt much i can do about it but make sure i'm on top of things so that i wouldnt have to burn midnight oil just to get through it all. =)

*it feels so good to know that you're not lagging in your work while the people around you are struggling. i'm just an ass. =P
