so its valentine's day. no different from any other saturday. apart from the fact that i'm going out for dinner later with family. maybe someday i'll spend vday with the one. =)

and when that time comes, i'll make him think of ways to go budget instead! hahaha! thats more fun, isnt it?

here's a few ideas!

1. roses are uber expensive so why not make your own? besides, real flowers wilt (so they're such a waste of money!)!

get red paper and start folding your own! or any other colour for that matter. i think champagne coloured roses are awesome and sweet.

2. cook for her at home!

pick her up from her place and drive her to your place. if possible, gather some buddies to be your 'waiters' for the night. but you'll owe your buddies a big one if things work out for the two of you! (although that would reduce the amount of privacy so its up to you!)

i think cooking at home would be more fun cos you can decorate the whole place and make it super romantic. it would be a plus point if you happen to be able to cook too! and in singapore's humid weather, please turn the aircon on! that would be greatly appreciated.

3. have a fun dessert that you can make together. fondue sounds good!

4. instead of heading out to the movies, rent/download dvds and watch them tgt! movie marathon movies that you both have been wanting to watch forever! pop some delicious popcorn and drizzle them with caramel. or dust them with fine salt for those who love salted popcorn. i do!

5. or get a puzzle and work on it! that will definitely take a while.. ;)

6. pamper your loved one with a massage too!

presents wise.. love coupons are cheap and easy to make!

just some examples!

7. if you're going to propose to her, make a scrapbook with all the pictures and wonderful memories you have shared together. and on the last page, pop the question in writing and when she sees it, get down on your knees and ask!

but for this, you can't really afford to go budget on the ring i guess. (cos i was actually thinking of using some long grass to make it! which is TOTALLY unacceptable unless proposing at a beach watching the sun go down)

8. or if you're like me (having watched too many dramas), light up an entire park with candles with the cliched heart shape right in the middle. tea lights from ikea would be good enough. comes in packs of 100 too if i'm not mistaken. but you'll probably need the tealight holder if you dont want the wind to upset your wonderful plan.

9. this means a picnic since you're in a park. wine would be a plus. but please, dont bring fried beehoon, nuggets etc alright!

10. last tip. enjoy yourself. no one said that valentine's day had to be boring and formal. try something different and maybe you'll ignite something within the two of you!
